A Long Walk to the Elementary School.
It was a rainy few weeks. The air was damp and gray and beautiful. Freya and Grandma Suzanne
took a long walk to see if Freya could enter kindergarten in Walnut Creek for the month she is visiting here.
After talking to the principal in the school office, we had to walk home again. Freya said
her legs were tired and she didn't want to walk up the long hills to the house we are staying in.
I suggested a story to pass the time, based on two images of kitties that Freya had been working
on, drawing and painting them, last evening.
Once upon a time there was a kitty. (Freya) It was a yellow kitty.
Oh yes, it is a yellow kitty. Now this kitty had some special talents. Even though he
was a small kitty, he could retrieve a soccer ball and throw it back on the court. (Freya) It is a girl kitty. Uh, yeah,
she was a very strong little kitty.
One day, the kitty retrieved a ball on the soccer field, and the coach said to Freya: "Why
don't you see if you can get this kitty a part in a movie? Talented animals are always needed on movie sets".
Freya went home and told her mom about this. Her mom said, I am the owner of this kitty because
I feed her and take care of her. Freya said, even though you do those things for kitty, I am the owner really.
The coach knew someone who knew someone who knew someone who was interested in hiring talented
kitties in Universal Studios.
Freya's whole family, three grandmas, one mom, four aunts, one dad and one grandpa
all went to Hollywood to help the kitty get a job there kicking soccer balls.
"Did this kitty have a name"? Grandma asked.
(Freya) Her name is Meow.
When Meow and all of the family arrived at Universal Studios, all of the animals came out
to greet them. A purple kitty who wore a crown and had a Purple Bow, was working on the movie set. Her name was Princess Violet.
Princess Violet and Meow made friends and talked about what it was like to be in a movie, and to work on a movie set.
It was decided that Princess Violet would teach Meow how to be a princess too. But first Meow
had to take her screen test and perform on the soccer field. Meow didn't want to at first, but then when the soccer ball was
kicked out of bounds, she ran to retrieve it and her reputation was established.
But Freya didn't want to leave Meow in Hollywood. She wanted her to come home to Tucson and
be with her and her friends there. Princess Violet remembered her first home, and she told Meow the story of her family. She
ran away from her home because she became jealous of a new kitty that the family brought in. She had been living on the movie
set for a long time.
Freya's mom decided that Princess Violet could come home with them and then in six months
Princess Violet and Meow could return to Hollywood, and Freya and her mom would also move to California to be with Meow.
But Freya said, I always want to live in Tucson, When I am 21 I would like
to move to California!
